ColdFusion 8 vs .Net 3.5
ColdFusionHi all,
I am a big fan of the ColdFusion Technology. I develop web applications in that technology for a living. To me CFML just the most intuitive syntax in the world. I have learnt other languages in college but CF was something that I self-learnt due to its easiness and proximity to HTML.
Coming to the core of this thread, sometimes I feel that I am biased towards CF just coz I have coded in CF ever since college (that would roughly be 3 years now).
Now with Microsoft being a much bigger name compared to Adobe (and Macromedia) and most companies wanting to be parnering with Microsoft technologies, there has been a trend of migration to the .NET platform.
Most companies are just revamping their already good applications using ASP.NET just to fit into the majority (or so I feel).
Now sitting down and looking at CF 8 and all the great new features it has to offer, for example:
- Built in Ajax controls
- cfexchange
- cffeed
- cfdocument (since MX 7)
- cfimage
- the .NET integration
Why should one choose ASP.NET over CF 8 to build his web apps?
More specific question would be,
If I already have an application if CF MX 7 or CF 5, revamping into which technology would be really winning? CF 8 or ASP.NET?
